Our Background
Lesedi La Setjhaba was registered as Non Profit Organisation in September 2016. It came as a reason to address the psycho-social needs of individuals, families and communities in South Africa. It provides counselling for individuals, strengthen and enhance relationships among couples and family members with the aim of preserving families. It empowers and develop communities and with a special focus on Women Empowerment and Access to justice for women victims of gender based violence.

Mission
Healthy emotional and psychological intrapersonal relationships. Healthy socio-psychological interpersonal relationships. Healthy empowered and developed communities with special focus on women empowerment programmes and women victims of gender based violence (GBV) to access justice projects.
Vision
Lesedi la Setjhaba to provide holistic psycho-social services to individuals through counselling and life skills; strengthen and enhance relationships among families through counselling and life skills; implement programmes and projects to communities that empower and develop communities with special focus on women empowerment programmes and Women victims of GBV to Access Justice.

PROGRAMMES & PROJECTS
Our Community work
The objectives of the programme are:
- To help women identify the pains and burdens they carry
- To be able to recognise how these wounds and scars lead to them feeling helpless, hopeless, no more caring about their own lives, having no goals
- A need for women to be aware how these feelings /emotional scars hold them back and lead them astray
- To assist these women to heal from these emotional pains.
- Teach women coping skills and life skills, and commit to self-love, self-concept and live fully
- To teach women life skills and use them to bounce back and navigate life
The project aim is to assist women who are victims of Gender based Violence and Intimate Partner Violence to access justice at court.
Challenges
Women victims of GBV who come to courts to open protection orders faces both structural and systemic challenges Lesedi La Setjhaba assist them
- With application of protection orders in English and ways that will be admissible to courts
- Advocate and provide support to assist them finalise court proceedings
- Provide counselling considering the psychological impact of abuse they endured during this time
- Provide marriage counselling where needed
- Women empowerment programes
- Assist with application of protecton orders
- 2. DISSEMINATING INFORMATION
About 200 000 listenership from Ekurhuleni and surrounding areas
- Different topics that build the individuals, communities and society are presented, community engaged and education offered every Tuesday
- Streaming gives opportunity to those that are far
- Topics presented on Lesedi La Setjhaba facebook
- Community participations, education given and where possible individual sessions held before the presentation start
